Who we are

Hooked on Hay is a mother/daughter small business with years of animal experience in both personal and professional settings and a cert. in Animal Husbandry.

Doris (mother) and Tash (daughter) recently had a bunny adopt us- being rescued from a 40+ degree day already at the age of 3 with unknown illnesses and gut microbiome. We quickly realised she was not used to veggies and only wanted cheap and non-nutritious pellets. Slowly we introduced a balanced diet and better pellets - but the treats were more of a problem. Initially we used dental chews for her teeth, until we realised they were made with flour. Although rabbit and piggy safe in small quantities, this is also true for many factory made treats on the market today.

After finding a random recipe online for simple hay treats, we tried it with the piggies and bunbun to find that they loved them! So, we adapted the recipe, added variants, brainstormed flavours and their names, and tada! The small venture business thingo was born.

Our treat flavours go through vigorous testing before being sold to the public.
